The Celtics' now 16-game losing streak is something of a divine comedy of errors -- it's bad enough when your franchise player is out with an infected left elbow (?!?) , but with two more starters also gone, Boston fans weren't sure it could get much worse.
Murphy's Law, folks. Wally Szczerbiak gets hurt during the loss to the Heat in bizarre fashion:
Already without Paul Pierce, Tony Allen and Theo Ratliff, the Celtics now face adding Szczerbiak to the injured list. The outside shooting specialist crumpled to the floor near the Boston bench with 3:26 left in the third quarter when he jumped to try to block a shot and landed on teammate Leon Powe's foot.
"Step on your teammate's foot on the bench? What else can go wrong?" Szczerbiak said. "It's like, gee, it's one of those things. ... It's just frustrating, right when I was starting to feel better."
Most fans of the team in the New England area are likely already suffering the ill effects of the down season between the end of the Pats' season and pitchers and catchers reporting for the Sox, so all they really ask of late is to make the playoffs -- and even in the decrepit Eastern Conference, the Celts are now marking out a new level of futility on a nightly basis. At this rate, the Celtics will survive the lottery to get the first pick, but Greg Oden and Kevin Durant will have decided to stay in school.

the luck of the Irish is not on the Celtics.

or durant and oden will come out and the celts will end up with the third pick.
I'm not sure which one would be more devastating.
I've got $20 on Zach's prediction coming to pass.
The best way to describe the Celtics? If they were a dog, we'd be tearfully bringing them out behind the woodshed, shotgun in hand.
It's great luck for the Celts if their guys keep getting injured... I'm actually hoping Paul Pierce can get healthy real soon.
